This form is required for staff, faculty, and authorized third parties to request Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) access to an on-campus computer. Remote Desktop allows you to securely connect to and control your SMC workstation from an off-campus location, giving you access to the same applications, files, and resources available at your desk.
All requests will be reviewed and must be approved by your supervisor and IT Services. Approved users are required to read and agree to the terms of the Remote Access Policy.
Remote Desktop connections must be made through an active VPN (GlobalProtect) session. If you do not already have VPN access, please submit a VPN Access Request along with this form.
Remote Desktop access is only permitted from devices running a supported, up-to-date operating system (OS).
Supported OS:
- Mac: Sequoia or later
- Windows: Windows 11 Pro (using the built-in Remote Desktop Connection app)
- Note: Windows 11 Home are NOT supported.
The on-campus computer you are connecting to must remain powered on and connected to the campus network. Please do not shut it down when leaving for the day.
If you need assistance updating the OS on your SMC-issued device, please contact the IT Service Desk.
