Fictitious Email Accounts Application

Fictitious Email Accounts are shared email accounts used by departments or student clubs, examples are: commencement@stmarys-ca.edu, alumni@stmarys-ca.edu, and mensrugby@stmarys-ca.edu.

If an account is approved, a Primary Owner will be assigned. Please read the Fictitious Email Account Primary Owner Responsibilities which includes account delegation and multi-factor authentication setup.

All Primary Owners must read the Fictitious Email Account policy before requesting a new account.

Account Settings
Fictitious email accounts are granted access to Gmail only and are limited to 5 GB of storage. Access to additional Google services, such as Google Drive or other Google tools, may be requested and will be reviewed and approved by IT Services.

Will you have delegates for your fictitious account, and will they send bulk email?
Sending bulk or high-volume email from a delegated Google account may result in messages being flagged as spam or the account being temporarily restricted. Talk to IT Services about best practices for sending out bulk email from a fictitious account. Best practice is for only the owner of the fictitious account to send out bulk emails.
